In Kansas and Missouri there are several species of snakes, most are nonvenomous. Although we do have rattlesnakes and copperheads they are a much rarer occurrence than their many nonvenomous counterparts.
There are many snake repellant products on the market, but we have not found any to be effective as physical removal, trapping, exclusion and habitat modification. When we are called out for snake removal we incorporate all of these methods to ensure maximum effectiveness.
Most snake sightings are in the spring and fall when snakes are out in the open to soak up the sun although they may be active at any time besides the cold winter months. Snakes are preyed upon by many different animals so they like to have cover available to stay hidden and for a quick escape. Therefore you may not be the only one who admires the shrubbery or vinery around your home.
